Lisa McHugh’s new album ‘Who I Am” is released this week. Considering her huge fan base and international appeal, the Glaswegian born star has no end to the people who know exactly who she is; an Irish country music sensation and multi-time recipient of ‘Female Vocalist and Entertainer of the Year’.
‘Who I Am’ is her sixth studio album containing 13 tracks including ‘Country Girl’ which she has co-written. The song tells the story of what a boy who wants to meet a country girl has to do – something her legions of fans put in to practice each week at dances across the country where the single Lisa, who has not found a country boy yet, performs to sell out audiences.
Recently Lisa has been expanding her song writing skills, having just returned from a 10-day trip to Nashville armed with new material. Whilst there, Lisa renewed old acquaintances with Larry Gatlin at the Grand Ole Opry met stars of the hit TV show, Nashville as well rubbing shoulders with Luke Bryan and also fitting in a number of recording sessions.
The new album features a mix of new country favourites including the hugely popular ‘Follow Your Arrow’, “Head Over Boots’ and ‘Happy People’ along with the classic Merle Haggard song ‘Mama Tried’ and the first single lifted from the album ‘Girl With The Fishing Rod’.
Speaking about the release of the new album, which is being launched at the massive Farmers’ Bash in the SSE Arena, Belfast on Friday, the Fermanagh based singer said:
“This year has been a complete whirlwind to say the least. We have been incredibly busy doing shows and so many other exciting things all year which has been fantastic. However, it has proven a little more difficult to squeeze time in the studio as much as we hoped but we managed in the end.
“The songs on this album are really some tracks that I have either loved for many years or ones that I am currently loving.
“I worked hard to put my own stamp on these songs and tried to make them more like me which is why I thought “Who I Am” was the perfect title for the album as well as having a track included with that name. As always, I have tried to include something for everyone and every age group also, so hopefully I managed to achieve that.”
In mid-autumn Lisa’s LTV weekly show on Facebook will be returning, which includes a mix of music, chat and exclusive fan news. The first series attracted record audiences around the world which showcased her versatility as a presenter each Wednesday night.
‘Who I Am’ is released on Friday 6th October and is available from lisamchughmusic.com, sharpemusic.com and iTunes download.
